The only thing to ever stop the Olympic games
( and rightly so) was WAR.
The games have been cancelled three times through the years.
In 1916 the games were cancelled due to WWI
and then again in 1940 and 1944 due to WWII.
I would say our most fierce and fit were a little too busy at that time.
